Assessment and Othotics
A Biomechanical examination
involves:
Examination of feet, legs, hips and
lower spine Complete history analysis Range of motion
testing Alignment tests Gait analysis Casting and fitting
of Orthotics if appropriate.
About Orthotics An orthotic is a custom arch
support for the foot, which by improving structural alignment and
restricting and enhancing motion, reduces or eliminates pain in
areas such as feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back.
In combination with strengthening or stretching exercises they
correct anomalies in alignment and gait and prevent the development
of strain or pain.
Orthotic design is dependent on injury, foot type, lifestyle and
footwear.

Shoes Properly designed and fitted footwear
are essential to the function of your orthotics. At the end of
the assessment, shoe recommendations are given. However, it is
usually recommended to wait until you receive the orthotics before
you shop, just to ensure the most ideal fit.
